It was hard to watch the president playing golf while a bipartisan COVID-19 relief package, a Payroll Protection Program renewal and an expired unemployment benefits package sat on his desk along with the National Defense Authorization Act. Jo Marie Hernandez, whose unemployment aid lapsed over the weekend, told USA Today, “Politicians keep giving us false hope, but they are out of touch with the American people. It’s not easy being poor. No one sees us.”

Local religion briefs Food for All Mobile Pantry On Thursday, Dec. 17 there will be a Food for All Mobile Pantry at the Greater Life Assembly Church, 12145 N. Shore Dr., Hillsboro. TEFAP eligibility income requirements of 200% at or above the federal poverty line apply. Food will be distributed from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Bring a photo ID and a recent piece of mail with your current address.
