WARANGAL: Tension prevailed here for the consecutive second day on Monday after Parkal MLA Challa Dharma Reddy made some controversial comments against collection of funds for the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra.
The TRS called for a bandh in Parkal in protest against the attack on the MLA’s residence on Sunday. Party activists set fire to the name-board of the BJP office during the wee hours, shouting slogans of ‘Jai Challa’. Later, TRS men forced business establishments to down their shutters and held a rasta roko on NH 353. They raised slogans against the BJP leaders and burned an effigy of the BJP.

Minister for Panchayat Raj, Rural Development and Rural Water Supply Errabelli Dayakar Rao directed officials to ensure daily drinking water supply to every home in the purview of Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation, starting from Ugadi this year.
Conducting a review meeting with officials of Municipal Administration & Urban Development along with Principal Secretary Arvind Kumar in Warangal on Wednesday, he asked them to work in a planned manner and conduct trial run for the project on March 1.
Warangal: ACB arrests public health officer for taking bribe

Hyderabad: The sleuths of Anti-Corruption Bureau, Telangana on Friday arrested an outsourcing public health worker of Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs. 2,000 from a Kirana shop owner in Hanamkonda.
According to the Director-General of ACB, the accused had demanded the bribe of Rs. 2,000 for issuing trade license to the Kirana shop owner.
Sandra Madhu, a public health officer was arrested in the lane beside the Asian Sridevi Mall in Hanamkonda. “The bribe was recovered from his possession at his instance, the public health workers, who to obtain undue advantage from the Kirana shop owner performed his duty dishonestly has been arrested and will be produced before the judge for SPE, ACB cases in Hyderabad,” said ACB official.

WARANGAL: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)Telangana Unit Chief Bandi Sanjay said that the TRS Government was afraid of holding polls to the Warangal Civic body.Speaking during a rally held in Warangal on Tuesday, the BJP leader said that after the BJP won the Dubbaka Assembly elections and gained strength in the GHMC Council with 48 seats, the TRS was now fearing to hold elections for the civic body.

The State government has asserted that total funds released by the Central government under the Smart Cities project have been released to Warangal and there is no diversion whatsoever of funds.
Municipal Administration principal secretary Arvind Kumar said that the Smart City Mission was launched in June 2015 and Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) was included in the list of smart cities the next year. The Centre had so far released ₹196.4 crore under the smart cities project and the entire amount had been transferred accordingly.
