The Gautam Buddh Nagar administration on Thursday said the Indian Air Force (IAF) is helping the district with the movement of medical oxygen amid a growing demand for it due to a rising number of COVID-19 cases.
The administration said it has launched Mission Sanjeevani for meeting the oxygen requirements of the coronavirus patients and a request was made to the IAF, which is helping with the quick transport of the life-saving gas from far-off states. As many as 250 oxygen cylinders have been procured from Chennai and transported to the Hindon air base (in adjoining Ghaziabad district) with the help of the IAF. Rapid response teams (RRTs) are monitoring the situation to ensure that there is no shortage of oxygen in any hospitals of Gautam Buddh Nagar, District Magistrate (DM) Suhas L Y said.
Greater Noida: On the lines of Noida Authority, Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) is going to initiate a drive to provide oxygen for those in home isolation. Officials in the authority have started reaching out to residents of apartment complexes in Noida Extension area, however, the residential colonies and blocks having row houses are yet to be covered.
GNIDA chief executive officer (CEO) Narendra Bhooshan, who is also the nodal officer for Covid-19 management in Gautam Budh Nagar district, said: “Supply of oxygen to hospitals treating Covi-19 patients is our priority in the present scenario. At the same time, a team of officials has been asked to assess the demand of those in home isolation in Greater Noida. We will try to work out a proper arrangement for the residents recovering at home as well.”
HCL Enterprise, which has companies like HCL Technologies, HCL Infosystems and HCL healthcare, said today that it is extending support to Covid-19 care facilities in NCR to bolster the State’s efforts to manage the large number of infections in the National Capital. HCL’s support includes assistance in the form of more than 500 hospital beds at various facilities such as the Commonwealth Games Village, Holy Family Hospital, Sama Hospital and Lok Nayak Hospital in New Delhi; and Government Institute of Medical Sciences, Greater Noida Authority, said a company statement. At the Commonwealth Games Village (CWG), in partnership with the Government of Delhi and Doctors for You, HCL has also supported the import and installation of an oxygen plant for the facility which can provide continuous oxygen supply directly to the beds. The CWG Covid facility which was shut in December 2020, due to fall in Covid cases, has been restarted on April 18, 2021.

And a team of five Noida officials has been deputed to streamline the Oxygen Refilling Bank a service initiated by the Authority to help hundreds of families in distress.
