CLEVELAND Despite drizzling rain and lake-chilled winds, football fans crowded the sidewalks and bars of downtown Cleveland on Thursday.
The national spotlight made a rare pivot to Northeast Ohio this week as Cleveland hosts the 2021 NFL Draft. The streets surrounding the Rock Hall, FirstEnergy Stadium and the Great Lakes Science Museum were choked with people sporting brightly colored jerseys, though some were bundled in coats or huddling beneath awnings and umbrellas. I ve been to six NFL drafts, said Ron Thompson, a Detroit Lions fan who lives in Delaware. Me and my buddies go every year. Cleveland is nice. I can t wait to come back for a Browns-Lions game.

With the previous steps in mind, searching for talent involves marketing, establishing search committees, selecting talent, interviewing and hiring the best qualified candidate. Being intentional at every step to create our diverse and inclusive community is of utmost importance.
Marketing Strategy
Intentionally work with the HRA and HR employment specialist to create a diverse candidate pool. Creating a diverse candidate pool cannot occur by chance. Student life executive leadership has determined that all positions must be posted in the following places: The CWRU HR website, Hispanic Business Association, The Diversity Center of Northeast Ohio, The Greater Cleveland Partnership, Call and Post, the Akron Urban League, Veterans Advantage, and Ohio Means Jobs. These are all at no additional cost to the department and the postings will be managed by CWRU HR.

There have already been 47 homicides in the city of Cleveland as of Tuesday, 12 more than this time in 2020. During a press conference Tuesday, Cleveland Police Chief Calvin Williams noted that the city s gun confiscation totals are 100% above where they were at this time last year.
