The Greater Killeen Chamber of Commerce announced this week that they re holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony for
Therapeutic Loving Connections Matchmaking.
The ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, February 25 at the new matchmaking HQ at 1519 Florence Suite 3 in Killeen. It s set to start at 12:00 PM.
The public is encouraged to come out and welcome this new business to the community. You know, show them some love! That s what it s all about, right?
If you attend in person, you will be asked to follow social distancing protocols and wear a mask. COVID-19 is still out there, so play it safe. If you d like to watch the ceremony remotely, it ll be streamed on the Greater Killeen Chamber of Commerce Facebook page.

Copperas Coveâs population could skyrocket to near 50,000 within the next five to seven years, according to Development Service Director Bobby Lewis.
City Manager Ryan Haverlah briefed Lewis estimations to members of the Morning Exchange Club at Lil Tex Restaurant on Jan. 6.
If Lewis estimation holds true, the next five- to seven-year growth would indicate an increase of 33% over the current population figure.
âIn five to seven years, thatâs pretty quick for Copperas Cove,â Haverlah said. âThat may not be quick for other areas, but for Copperas Cove, that is very quick, considering that for the last 20 years, we have grown at 1% or just over 1% each year.â
Killeen City Councilmember Jim Kilpatrick has died after being hospitalized with COVID-19, the city announced Wednesday. Kilpatrick, who earned the Silver Star while serving with the Army in Vietnam, was 74.
Kilpatrick, who died Tuesday, âwas elected to represent District 3 on Killeen City Council May 9, 2015 and reelected in 2017 and 2019. He served as Mayor Pro Tem from 2017 to 2019,â according to a news release from the city.
Prior to joining City Council, he served on Killeen Planning and Zoning Commission from 1996 to 2003.
âMayor Jose Segarra has ordered the City of Killeen Flag to half-staff immediately in honor of Councilman Kilpatrick and his service. Flags will remain at half-staff until the day following interment. Funeral arrangements are pending,â according to the release.
In the wake of Tuesdayâs death of Killeen City Councilmember Jim Kilpatrick, local officials took the time to share their thoughts.
âIt is a sad day,â said John Crutchfield, president of the Greater Killeen Chamber of Commerce. âJimâs dedication to his family, the U.S. Army and this community was remarkable. His suffering has ended. I pray for him and his family.â
Kilpatrickâs death after battling COVID-19 was announced Wednesday morning by the city.
Scott Cosper, a former state representative, served as Killeenâs mayor from 2014 to 2016, having previously been elected to the council in 2000.
âJim Kilpatrick was my friend who I had the honor of serving with on the Killeen City Council, as well as working with, and representing, while I served in the Legislature,â Cosper said by telephone. âJim was a great man who loved his wife and his family. He served his community and country with tremendous honor and integrity, and his se
