With Texas A&M University-Central Texas being the only upper-division university in Texas, an additional $1.2 million specifically for the Killeen institution will help it enhance its Transfer Central program.
As an upper-division university, it offers only junior- and senior-level courses, meaning all of its students are transfers from other schools.
Rep. Brad Buckley, R-Salado, highlighted the additional $1.2 million during a presentation at a public policy luncheon, hosted by the Greater Killeen Chamber of Commerce at A&M-Central Texas.
Buckley touted the universityâs reputation in the state of Texas.
âJust start to finish, you can receive the least expensive bachelorâs degree in the state of Texas,â he said.
At that total, the price was about $50,500 per acre and about $1.16 per square foot.
Jennifer Hetzel with the Greater Killeen Chamber of Commerce, said the property is located at 5101 Roy J. Smith Drive and was appraised at the $1.01 million value. However, she said the current appraised value is not available via Bell County.
She also said that there were no incentives included in the sale of the land.
David Barr, the owner of David Barr Properties in Killeen, said the price for the parcel of land in northeast Killeen is about right.
âNortheast Killeen has the lowest prices and is the hardest property to sell in our area,â Barr said.

A picture development and photography studio that has been operating in Killeen for about two years officially cut the ribbon on its new location Thursday afternoon.
Premium PIX Studios is located at 17 N. College St. in Killeen and the owners along with community support and the Greater Killeen Chamber of Commerce cut a ceremonial red ribbon and welcomed local residents to visit the photography studio and get any photos they need developed.
Along with film development, PIX also offers studio rental, digital photo retouching, graphic design, business and personal branding, web page development and commercial and ad development. The office hours are Monday through Friday from noon to 6 p.m., and appointments may be requested for other times.
