Fairfield Memorial Hospital says, per current CDC guidelines, COVID vaccinations could be offered to the public by mid-February, though that is contingent upon a number of variables. The hospital also said, as of yesterday, less than five percent of patients who presented with COVID-related illnesses had to be transferred to other facilities for care. The FCHS Board of Education will meet tonight at 6 in the school study hall. It is scheduled to adopt the 2020 tax levy for taxes payable in 2021, and that tentative increase was set at 4.91 percent last month. The board is also scheduled to discuss the FY20 Audit and FCHS website, and it is expected to accept the resignation of an assistant football coach.

Headlines for Monday, December 14th

According to a Facebook post from the Wayne County Health Department this afternoon, they are aware that Pfizer has received an Emergency Use Authorization for their COVID-19 vaccine. The first few shipments will be very small. The vaccine will be allocated throughout the county in phases per IDPH guidelines. The health department will provide updates on vaccine availiability and drive-thru vaccination clinic dates and times. Today is the first day petitions can be filed for city and county races for the April 6 th Consolidated Election. Wayne County races include the race for Fairfield Mayor and aldermen, roughly 20 township road commissioners, and seats on each school board. Edwards County has races in Albion, West Salem, Bone Gap, and Browns, as well as for three school board seats. Petitions can be filed through December 21
