Arbor Day is typically recognized on the last Friday of April, said David Detmold, chair of the Montague Tree Advisory Committee. This year and in recent years it was officially recognized by the Montague Selectboard.

The program, which is administered by the state Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE), covers the students’ four high school years, and culminates with a 100-hour internship during their senior year.
