ALERTWildfire/PG&E ATASCADERO, Calif. – Firefighters responded to a residential structure fire in Atascadero Wednesday afternoon. The fire was first reported around 3:40 p.m. at a home on the 1300 block of El Camino Real. Both Cal Fire and the Atascadero Fire Department responded with multiple engines. Fire officials said the fire started in a yard and then spread to a eucalyptus tree before ultimately catching a house on fire. The Atascadero Fire Department urged people to avoid the area between Carrizo Road to the Highway 101 on-ramp. Fire crews remained on scene for several hours and were expected to remain in the area through the evening.
