COTTAGE GROVE, Wis.– The temperatures may not be dropping, but community leaders in Cottage Grove are creating new ways to keep cool.
The Splash Pad, the city’s first aquatic attraction, opened Saturday at Phoebe Bakken Memorial Park. The event kicked off with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, popsicles, and beach balls.
The Pad has been in the parks and recreation department’s plans since 2015, but concrete plans didn’t begin until two years ago, according to Sean Brusegar, Director of Parks, Recreation, and Forestry for the town. Brusegar says he’s been looking forward to the space opening since construction began, and for him, it’s been worth the wait.

The project will cost in the tens of billions of dollars between the two national laboratories over the next 10 years, with a big chunk of it directed to the construction of pit production facilities and installation of infrastructure at LANL, the birthplace of the atomic bomb.
