The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike’s (BBMPs) initial enthusiasm to start a project does not last till the work is complete. One such example is the state of
Kundalahalli junction, where the road is half dug to build an
underpass but there is no progress for the last one year. The irony is that the BBMP went ahead with excavating the middle of the road much before acquiring the land required for the project.
A majority of the trees that have been identified for felling are massive, evergreen and umbrella-shaped. Some of them are at least 50 years old with a trunk size of at least four to five metres. There are over 60 trees on both sides of the road and on the median. Of these, 32 trees are marked in red, indicating that those are obstructing the underpass.
