Irish company snaps up patents belonging to LG Electronics Scramoge Technology is part of a group that has launched patent cases against tech giants about 4 hours ago   A subsidiary of LG Electronics recently sold more than 100 of its US patents on wireless charging to a non-practising entity in the Republic that has issued a wave of multimillion-dollar lawsuits against well-known technology giants. LG Innotek sold 95 registered patents and 28 pending patents on wireless charging to Dublin-based Scramoge Technology ahead of its announcement this week that it is to exit its smartphone business. Scramoge Technology is part of Atlantic IP Services, a technology licensing group whose various subsidiaries have launched patent infringement lawsuits against consumer electronic companies that include Apple, Microsoft, LG and Sony.

A Dublin-based company has settled legal action around patent infringement on touchscreen devices with tech giants including Apple, Amazon, Microsoft, LG and Sony.

Irish patent firm Solas OIed wins German case against LG and Sony on TV screens

An Irish company has won a court judgement in Germany against tech giants LG and Sony for infringing patented screen technology. Solas Oled is a Dublin-based firm that buys up display technology patents and then sues giants that it believes is infringing those patents. In the Karlsruhe Higher Regional Court in Germany, the firm has secured an order compelling LG and Sony to stop selling certain ‘Oled’ televisions without coming to a new arrangement with Solas. Solas argued that the tech giants were using “a control circuit for light emitting diodes as invented at Stuttgart university” that it had acquired, in its televisions and displays.
