WNBA star Courtney Williams has revealed she did not want to play in the league s bio-secure bubble last season and acknowledged she could not afford to forego her salary to follow the league s political stance as social justice protests erupted across the U.S.
The WNBA, which celebrates its 25th season when the upcoming campaign tips off on Friday, experienced a season like no others last year. The COVID-19 pandemic meant the league and its 144 players, coaches and support staff were confined in a bio-secure bubble in Brandeton, Florida, where they underwent daily coronavirus testing.

Unlike Senator David Perdue, Senator Kelly Loeffler does not have a political pedigree. Loeffler is an established businesswoman who is co-owner of the Atlanta Dreams, a WNBA team. Loeffler has a bootstrap story of working her way up the ladder, and building her own businesses. When she was appointed to the Senate by Georgia Governor Brian Kemp, she donated her Senate salary to Georgia non-profits and charities.
Loeffler could have been the poster child for self-reliance and self-determination. She could have shared her compelling story of forging a path for herself through conservative ideals, and using that path to be of service to others.

(Bloomberg) Democrat Raphael Warnock edged ahead of incumbent Senator Kelly Loeffler in one of Georgia’s two Senate runoffs on Tuesday, lifting the party’s hopes for retaking the chamber from the GOP even as the two races remained too close to call.
Warnock declared victory even as media organizations delayed calling the close race and Loeffler refused to concede.
“Georgia, I am honored by the faith you have shown in me and I promise you this tonight: I am going to the Senate to work for all of Georgia, no matter who you cast your vote for in this election,” he said.
Democrats’ Senate Bid Hangs in Balance After First Georgia Win Bloomberg 1/6/2021 Mark Niquette
(Bloomberg) Democrats’ hopes of taking control of the U.S. Senate received a huge boost early Wednesday after the party captured one seat in the Georgia runoff elections and waited on the outcome of another race that remained too close to call.
To secure a narrow majority, Democrats need to win both Senate seats, which would split the chamber 50-50 between Republicans and the Democratic caucus, with Vice President-elect Kamala Harris casting tie-breaking votes.
Senate control, paired with the Democrats’ narrow majority in the House, would give Democratic President-elect Joe Biden full control of the U.S. government and allow him to implement major pieces of his agenda.
