Man shot at by rivals in temple land dispute | Varanasi News

Varanasi: One person was shot at by rivals in a dispute over a temple land in Khojwa area under Bhelupur police station of the district on Sunday night. Additional deputy police commissioner Vikas Chandra Tripathi on Monday said, “Two accused, Atar Singh and Raj Bahadur, had been arrested by police and a licenced pistol was also seized from them. Process for cancellation of the arms licence of Atar Singh is also being initiated. The incident occurred in the dispute of temple land.” A Santoshi Mata temple, which is looked after by a trust, is situated in Shaktinagar of Khojwa locality under Bhelupur police station. Atar Singh and Rajbahadur are trustees and they had an old dispute with temple priest Ramakant Pathak on the issue of property on which the temple exists, said police.

The two youths had Covid-19 symptoms and had complained of breathing difficulties. People in several villages of Gautam Budh Nagar have been reporting fever, followed by the onset of breathing difficulties. Residents of half a dozen villages TOI spoke to claimed there had been more than several deaths over the past 10 days of people who showed Covid-like symptoms. There is, however, no official data on this. The tragedy that struck Singh’s family has left Roza Jalalpur in shock. Singh’s elder son Deepak’s health began deteriorating on the intervening night of May 8 (Saturday) and 9 (Sunday). He couldn’t breathe and his oxygen saturation levels kept falling. The family was unable to find a ventilator in Greater Noida hospitals. Deepak passed away around 10am on Sunday.
