Good business ethics are good for business, according to Darrell Shortes, owner and president of Raydon Inc.
Raydon was one of three companies announced Tuesday as winners for the Better Business Bureau of Abilene and the Big Country s 2021 Torch Awards for Ethics. You try to instill in your employees and your whole staff the proper manners and respect for dealing with people, Shortes said. If they don t like you, they don t use you, though you may be the best in the business.
His company, which he started in Breckenridge in 1982, will receive the Torch Award in the 11-99 employee category. Most of his 70 or so employees work in Abilene, though several remain in the original Breckenridge office.
