Your State Fair of Texas concessionaires are officially off to the races with a new lineup of incredible, edible innovations for the public to taste at the Fair this fall.
The 17th Annual Big Tex® Choice Awards offers another year of exciting bites for all appetites. The new lineup is bursting with flavor, whether you love savory or sweet, you’re in for a treat this year. After much deliberation in the first round of judging, the scores have been tallied and the results are in; 32 semi-finalists have been named to move forward. The contenders are one step closer to the main event, where they will compete for one of three winning titles: “Best Taste – Savory,” “Best Taste – Sweet,” and “Most Creative.”

The State Fair of Texas is back in 2021. September 24 - October 17, you can make your plans and buy your tickets to be part of one of the most time-honored traditions in the Lone State State.
There are so many attractions every year at the State Fair of Texas, but food is definitely one of the cornerstones. The concessionaires always bring tasty and sometimes very unique creations to fair attendees.
With that being said, the concessionaires are officially off to the races with the 17th Annual Big Tex® Choice Awards. The contest kicked off in early July with an impressive 43 entries represented by 26 concessionaires. The selection process used in the annual competition is headed up by a panel of internal judges and requires “blind judging” from start to finish, meaning the panel does not know which concessionaire is behind each recipe.

State Fair of Texas In an annual ritual that they re surely thrilled to revive, the State Fair of Texas has unveiled 32 semi-finalists for the 2021 Big Tex Choice Awards Food Competition, with 19 savory entries and 13 sweet. State Fair concessionaires offer entries they hope will win one of three titles: Best Taste – Savory, Best Taste – Sweet, and Most Creative. A release from the State Fair of Texas says that the scores were tallied after much deliberation in the first round of judging, though the scores did not involve tasting the entries; they were evaluated on name and concept only.
