The release of Next Generation Mobile Services (NGMS) spectrum in Pakistan would contribute to the overall economic growth through digitalisation and improve the quality of broadband services, said Finance Minister Abdul Hafeez Shaikh.
He made the remarks while chairing a meeting of the advisory committee for the release of NGMS spectrum in Pakistan at the Finance Division on Thursday.
During the meeting, the finance minister urged consultants to adopt a proactive approach and meet the given deadlines effectively.

ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister on Thursday said the sale of maximum possible Next Generation Mobile Services (NGMS) spectrum will contribute towards overall economic growth through digitalisation and improve the quality of broadband services in Pakistan.
Chairing a meeting of the the Advisory Committee, the minister asked the consultants to follow a proactive approach and meet the given deadlines for the release of NGMS spectrum.
Meanwhile, sources in the official circle stated that the government expects to raise around $1 billion from the spectrum auction at a time there is a strong reaction from the telecom companies against the auction.
Abdul Hafeez Shaikh Meets With Advisory Committee on Next Generation Mobile Services
Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, chaired the meeting of the Advisory Committee for the release of Next Generation Mobile Services (NGMS) spectrum in Pakistan held at the Finance Division today.
Chairman PTA briefed the Advisory Committee about the latest developments in the sale of the available spectrum of next-generation mobile services in the country.
While appreciating the sale of the maximum possible spectrum, the Finance Minister stated that it will contribute towards overall economic growth through digitalization and improve the quality of broadband services in Pakistan, he added.
