Are You Sure, Axel?
As you’ve likely heard, the Vancouver Whitecaps are in hot pursuit of yet another player from the Portuguese League, this time a right back in 27-year old Bruno Gaspar from Sporting CP.
With the reported fee on a loan-to-buy deal being just under two million dollars, the Whitecaps are looking at yet another decent sized investment for a player that isn’t necessarily at a position of need, and frankly, that has me concerned.

The Vancouver Whitecaps have a new chief revenue officer, as the team announced that Wade Martin has joined its senior leadership group.
Martin has extensive experience in professional sports, and he comes to Vancouver after three and a half years on the executive team of the Oakland Athletics. In Oakland, Martin was responsible for strategic leadership and significant growth of all revenue streams, including corporate partnerships, hospitality and premium experience, and broadcast and digital media.
“We are very pleased to welcome Wade to the club and city,” said Whitecaps CEO and sporting director Axel Schuster in a media release. “Wade brings a wealth of experience across North America, and a proven track record of significant revenue growth throughout his career in the sports industry.”

VANCOUVER - The Vancouver Whitecaps and winger David Milinkovic have officially agreed to part ways.
The club announced Tuesday it has agreed to a mutual contract termination with the 26-year-old Frenchman.
Whitecaps sporting director Axel Schuster said in a statement that Milinkovic and his partner want to return to Europe to be closer to their families following the birth of their first child.
