VANCOUVER Winger Dieber Caicedo has big dreams, and he s hoping a move to the Vancouver Whitecaps helps make them reality.
The 20-year-old native of Barbacoas, Colombia, has signed a three-year contract that will keep him in Vancouver through 2023, with a club option for a fourth season.
“I want to grow. I know (the Whitecaps are) a team that lets young players play, Caicedo said through a translator Tuesday. I want to move forward in my career and this is a great opportunity for me to play.”
But before that can happen, there are several unanswered questions that still have to be answered.
While other Major League Soccer teams are busy bringing in fresh faces, Vancouver has yet to sign a new player during the off-season. The Whitecaps made four selections during the 2021 MLS Super Draft on Thursday, but without a start date for the season, there’s no sign of when those players and current Whitecaps players will report for training camp.
Where is Deiber Caicedo
The Whitecaps have been closing in on Colombia youth international, Deiber Caicedo, as the 20-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Vancouver.

Good Friday morning Caps fans and thank goodness we have made it to the end of the week.
It s been a bit of a week here in the U.S. and I’m nearing the end of my rope a bit so this will be a touch shorter than usual. I won’t discuss it much more but I think the gravity of what we saw play out in Washington earlier this week has done a number on many of us, particularly those like myself who are in the news world.
In a Bit of a Bikel: A Look at the Vancouver Whitecaps’ Defence

By most measures the Vancouver Whitecaps had one of the the worst defences in a very weird 2020 MLS season. They were last in the league expected goals against, 4th from bottom in actual goals against, and last in shots conceded. But in all of their post season interviews Axel Schuster and Marc Dos Santos have both stressed the need for attacking solutions. Naturally this has lead to some concern that they aren’t strengthening their defence. So let’s look at that defence and examine just how big of a problem it is.
