Qureshi urges global action to end Israeli assault on Palestine ahead of UNGA session - World

Pakistan has joined hands with Palestine, Sudan and Turkey to take a united stance at the UNGA session scheduled today. This will be the first UN meeting that will see the physical presence of foreign ministers since the Covid-19 pandemic paralysed the world. Prior to this, UN had been holding virtual meetings in the wake of the pandemic. Soon after his arrival in New York, Qureshi hosted a working dinner of the foreign ministers of OIC member states to discuss the situation in Palestine. “We hope the UNGA meeting will send a strong message … to end the Israeli aggression and to take concrete steps to find a solution to the Palestine issue,” said the foreign minister while addressing the dinner.

Pakistan to continue supporting Afghan peace process: envoy - Newspaper

WASHINGTON: Pakistan assured the United States on Tuesday that it would continue supporting the Afghan peace process. At a Monday afternoon news briefing, the US State Department once again urged Afghanistan’s neighbours to support the process, reminding them that continued chaos in Afghanistan would be particularly harmful for them. Pakistan’s US Ambassador Asad Majeed Khan conveyed this assurance during a meeting with US lawmakers in Washington. He also underlined Islamabad’s desire to “build a broad-based and stand-alone relationship with the US,” said a statement issued by his office. Army Chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa visited Kabul on Monday and, during a meeting with President Ashraf Ghani, offered Pakistan’s support for political negotiations with the Taliban. Gen Bajwa was accompanied in the meeting by British Chief of Defence Staff General Sir Nick Carter.

'Islamabad wants stand-alone relations with US' - Newspaper

A screenshot from the event. White Star KARACHI: “Washington is a very happening place, and the good or bad thing about Pakistan-US relations is that there is never a dull moment,” said Dr Asad Majeed Khan, Pakistan’s ambassador to the United States during a Zoom session organised by the English Speaking Union of Pakistan (ESUP) here on Friday. Speaking on ‘Pakistan-US relations’, the ambassador said that “We have had some interactions with the Trump administration earlier. But the new administration brings with it very old hands. Hands that know Pakistan well,” he said. “We have faced very unusual circumstances in the US,” he said about recent developments. “The raging pandemic generated an economic [recession]. Then there were the contested elections followed by impeachment votes. So we see an administration that is still not well set in,” he reminded.
