Ugandan Primary school teacher arrested after police recover bodies of wife, son in latrine

According to Daily Monitor, Detectives are investigating why the suspect, a primary school teacher killed his wife Rose Katushabe and their two -year-old son. His neighbors learnt about the murder on Tuesday following a strong stench that was emanating from the suspect’s pit–latrine. They then reported to police – thereafter the officers retrieved the decomposing bodies from the latrine. “We also managed to recover the machete which was reportedly used to kill the victims,” Lwengo District Police Commander, Mr Peter Akampulira said. One of the suspect’s neighbours, Ms Annet Nakamya, said Ms Katushabe and her child were last seen last week.

Soldiers remain at Bobi Wine s home despite court order

Ugandan police and the army were Monday evening still deployed at the residence of former presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi popularly known as Bobi Wine in Magere village, Wakiso District, despite a court earlier ordering them to leave immediately. Instead, military and police deployments had been reinforced and checkpoints on the road to his residence had also been increased from two to four when Daily Monitor went to Magere at about 9.30am. By 2pm Monday when Daily Monitor left the area, there were four roadblocks manned by police and the army on Magere road off Gayaza-Kampala road. Journalists stopped Two cars carrying journalists were stopped at the second roadblock and ordered to go back. Many cars heading to or returning from Magere were thoroughly checked.
