In response, several Lafayette organizations partnered to create the Lost My Gig Fund to support local full-time musicians impacted by the pandemic. More than $40,000 was raised in 2020 for local musicians. A year later, the third and final Lost My Gig concert is happening Tuesday evening at The Acadiana Center for the Arts. Lost My Gig - The Concert will feature Marc Broussard & Friends, along with special guest performances by Chubbie Carrier, Steve Adams, Julian Primeaux, Ray Boudreaux, and many more.

Lafayette philanthropist James Jim Moncus dies at 82

Moncus died at his home in Lafayette, according to an obituary. Details about his funeral are pending. Lafayette lost a true leader in the philanthropic community, former Lafayette Mayor-President Joel Robideaux told the Daily Advertiser. Fortunately, he set up a process for Lafayette to benefit even after his death. Moncus legacy is evident in projects all over Lafayette. He donated to the Acadiana Center for the Arts to help build its downtown theater, Robideaux said. Moncus also helped fund the creation of a medical center at a local hospital.  He s the namesake of the park on Johnston Street, where he gave the lead gift that helped fund the park. Moncus was the first donor who Lafayette Central Park Inc., the nonprofit leading the design and construction efforts at the park, showed the master plans, said executive director Elizabeth E.B. Brooks. At that first meeting, Moncus agreed to name the park at the highest gift level.
