All first-year biology students at Acadia University in Wolfville, N.S., now learn about Mi'kmaw traditional knowledge thanks to the efforts of one student who was tired of seeing Indigenous perspectives ignored in science.
Edmond J. Ciosek – Cumberland
Edmond J. Ciosek, 77, of Cumberland, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 25, 2021, at home.
Affectionately known as Ed, he was the only son of the late Edmond & Mary (Groch) Ciosek.
Ed met the light of his life, his beautiful Laurie Jean Ciosek (McDevitt) and they were married for 38 years and together they created a beautiful family. Ed was adored by his two sons, Stephen and Phillip August, his daughter Arianna Servant, her husband, Tim Servant, of Attleboro Falls, Mass., and their children Edelman and Teverly.
From an early age, Ed was a very dedicated student and became a lifelong learner. After attending St. Patrick School in Valley Falls, he went on to graduate from Cumberland High School in 1961. Ed then attended Dean Junior College (1963) and continued his education at Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, graduating in 1966. Nova Scotia s health authority says pop-up COVID-19 testing is coming to Wolfville this weekend in response to a recent case in the area and a high number of people who want to be tested.
Every indication we have from Pfizer is that this is very short term. And even within the next 90 days, we re anticipating that what they aren t able to deliver in the next two weeks, they ll make that up, that amount, in February and March.

Nova Scotia has administered 10,575 doses of COVID-19 vaccines, including 2,705 second doses, as of Thursday.

Focus on testing university students
Strang also mentioned he has received some questions about why the student at Acadia University tested positive after completing their 14-day quarantine and attending classes.
