Irish Upset No 11 Florida State, 83-73

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Notre Dame men’s basketball team (10-14, 7-11) knocked off No. 11 Florida State (15-5, 11-4) on Saturday, rolling to an 83-73 victory inside Purcell Pavilion. It marked the Fighting Irish’s first ranked win since November of 2017.  Junior guard Prentiss Hubb led the way with 22 points on 6-of-17 shooting, including a 7-of-8 mark from the free-throw line. It marked his fifth 20+ point performance on the season and second in the last three games. In addition, Hubb crossed over the 1,000-career point plateau, becoming the 65th player in program history to do so.  A total of five Irish players finished in double figures including a near double-double from Dane Goodwin. The junior guard posted 15 points and nine boards. Cormac Ryan, Nate Laszewski and Nikola Djogo all poured in 11 points each. 

Match 11 Preview: Virginia

• Notre Dame trails the Cavaliers in the series with a mark of 5-8-4. • The Irish won the most recent matchup earlier this season at Arlotta, scoring in overtime to win 2-1. • Notre Dame is seeking its first win when playing at Virginia, as it currently has a record of 0-4-1. • The Irish played the Cavaliers to a standstill the last time the two sides met in Charlottesville, as the match finished 0-0 (2OT) during the 2018 regular season. • Each of the last eight meetings between the two sides have either been decided by one goal or a draw. Irish Track & Field Wrap Up ACC Indoor Championships

CLEMSON, S.C. – The men’s and women’s track team rounded out the first leg of the championship portion of the indoor season schedule with the ACC Indoor Championships on Saturday at the Clemson Indoor Track and Field Complex. The Irish competed well in the final day of the conference competition, finding their way to three All-ACC honors, four personal bests, and one season best performance between the men and women.  Sophomore Michael Shoaf and senior John Stefan kicked off the day for the Irish in the men’s shot put. Shoaf finished ninth with a season best mark of 17.15m and Stefan’s 16.33m effort was good for 12th place. 

Irish Downed By #5 Badgers, 4-2

MADISON, Wis. Alex Steeves and Graham Slaggert scored for the Irish but fifth-ranked Wisconsin came back to defeat Notre Dame, 4-2, on Friday night at La Bahn Arena in game one of the weekend series.  Steeves and Slaggert each had a goal and an assist, while Landon Slaggert had a pair of assists. Linus Weissbach led the Wisconsin offense with the game winner and empty net tallies in the third.  Dylan St. Cyr made 30 saves in the Notre Dame (10-12-1) goal, including 14 in the first period. Robbie Beydoun finished with 29 saves for Wisconsin (15-8-0).   The Irish were 0-for-2 on the power play, while Wisconsin finished 1-for-3 as Notre Dame’s penalty kill moved to 19-for-20 on the road this season.

Irish Drop 2-3 Decision to Syracuse In ACC Pod Play

RV Notre Dame (2-2) dropped the first game of its ACC Pod slate Friday in a 2-3 loss to Syracuse. Senior pitcher Alexis Holloway (1-1) shouldered the loss, even with eight strikeouts on the day.
