May 2 The Sacramento Fire Department is fighting a three-alarm fire that started Sunday at a public dump near Rosemont.
Department spokesman Capt. Keith Wade said the fire started in piles of trash around 1 p.m. at the Florin Perkins Public Disposal Site just south of Jackson Road at Florin Perkins Road.
Fire officials added that a grass fire also sparked in the same area. Wade said the fast-moving winds whipped up embers that ignited in a nearby field. Crews were working to contain the fire to the facility so that it did not spread south into more grass fields.
