The pain unimaginable for most but becoming all too familiar for mothers in New Haven. The feeling of burying a child. Grab your kids. Hold your kids. Tell your kids you love them because baby you don’t know the last time you going to see them, said Brown.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. Two more people are recovering from gunshot wounds as New Haven continues to combat a recent rise in gun violence.
Police said the shooting happened on White Street between Congress Avenue and Columbus Avenue.
When they arrived at the scene, officers found a 22-year-old Waterbury man and a 23-year-old New Haven man each suffering from a single gunshot wound.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. Police are investigating a pair of shootings that occurred overnight in the Elm City.
According to a release, officers responded shortly before 10:30 p.m. Tuesday to a Shotspotter alert in the area of Waverly Street near Constance Baker Motley Street.
A 29-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound was located at the scene.
He was transported to Yale New Haven Hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.
Shortly after midnight, police received 911 calls of another incident of a shots fired.

2020 marked the most violent year in New Haven since 2012, with 20 homicides. The city is on pace to surpass that total this year. So, officials are rolling out a number of initiatives to address the uptick.

NEW HAVEN A former New Haven police officer is seeking to get his position back after he resigned following internal affairs investigations that determined he violated department regulations in sexual interactions with two women, documents show. .
The police union is backing former Officer Gary Gamarra in his bid to be reinstated, saying he is “entitled to due process.” But Acting Chief Renee Dominguez is seeking to have his state certification revoked, saying “we do not tolerate conduct that would dishonor the badge.”
