On Tuesday, the Sindh High Court heard their petition against the decision to block the road from 7pm to 2am so that it becomes a ‘food street’. The court asked the Traffic DIG to submit a traffic plan by March 25. It asked about the number of roads, streets, and lanes that have been blocked, and options available to residents.

Traffic plan for Youm-e-Wiladat Hazrat Ali procession

Karachi February 26, 2021 Karachi traffic police chief DIG Iqbal Dara has issued a traffic diversion plan for Youm-e-Wiladat Hazrat Ali (RA). In a statement, issued by the traffic police on Thursday, said that on 13th Rajab, 1442, A.H. i.e. February 26, 202, a procession will start from Ghafoor Chamber at 4pm and terminate at the Mehfil-e-Shah-e-Khurasan after passing through different streets and roads. The route includes Abdullah Haroon Road, Sharea Iraq, Zaib-un-Nisa Street, Aga Khan Road, MA Jinnah Road and Father Jamnis Road. On Bahadur Yar Tang Road, all kinds of traffic coming from Guru Mandir, Soldier Bazaar No.3 signal and Soldier Bazaar No.2 signal will be diverted from Soldier Bazaar No.1 signal to the Coast Guards and Ankle Seria signal to reach their destinations.

THIS is apropos the news report ‘Burnes Road to remain traffic-free in evenings’ (Jan 7). The city administration has announced to keep the food district ‘traffic-free’ in the evenings to provide a better environment to the people at the eateries in the vicinity. This means that vehicular traffic from Fresco Chowk to Court Road will be closed from 7pm onwards, and traffic coming from Arambagh will be diverted to M.A. Jinnah Road and People’s Square. It is one of the city’s busiest areas and works as a junction to the roads leading to Sharah-i-Liaquat and M.A. Jinnah Road.
