Quarantine Care Packages Keep Students Connected

Every Wednesday, Resident Assistants help with “Dinner with Durango” as they tend to students in quarantine by delivering takeout straight to their door and having Durango tag along as a special guest. Food Services Manager Louis Gornick leads his team in preparing three meals a day, seven days a week, for students in quarantine. With variety in mind, UNO Food Services employees make pancakes; chicken parmesan; creole gumbo with rice and vegetables; breakfast burritos; and even chicken and waffles. They create meals for students with dietary restrictions, and accommodate religious practices, or personal requests too. A joint effort by UNO Housing and the Office of Spirit and Tradition called “Dinner with Durango” brings a taste of life and cuisine outside quarantine.
