SOLON, OH Patrick McKinney is the new director of information systems for the Solon Schools.
McKinney s hiring was approved by the Solon Board of Education on Monday. He takes over the role Aug. 1. McKinney is replacing Kirk Miller, who is retiring after spending 38 years in the district.
The board approved a two-year contract for McKinney, starting Aug. 1, 2021 and continuing through July 31, 2023. McKinney will work intermittently through the summer alongisde Miller to ensure a smooth transition.

In his new role, McKinney will oversee the operation and maintenance of the district s electronic network and information technology systems, including all hardware and software systems required for overall operations and instructional programs.

(Solon) - Solon High School Principal Erin Short will be able to return to work after police and prosecutors determined there will be no charges in connection with an email alleging she had an inappropriate relationship with a student some years ago.
Short was put on paid leave February 15th, after two members of the Solon Board of Education received an email which alleged inappropriate behavior by Short more than ten years ago. The case was turned over to Solon Police and the city prosecutor. On Wednesday, Prosecutor Lon Stolarsky told the Cleveland Jewish News that he would rule there were no criminal charges in the matter. The police lieutenant who was in charge of the investigation said that the case has been closed.

CLEVELAND, Ohio A Solon High School principal placed on leave last month while the district and police investigate allegations of inappropriate conduct says that the investigation was sparked by someone who used an alias to send a “fraudulent email” to levy the accusations.
Erin Short said in a statement through her attorney that “the sender of this email created a fictitious email account by using a false name in order to falsely accuse me of inappropriate conduct.”
“It is an unfortunate sign of the times that anyone can hide behind a computer, create a fake email account and defame anyone of their choosing with a few key strokes,” the statement read.
