The Fredonia-Pomfret Recreation Department will begin accepting Russell Joy Park pavilion rental applications for the summer 2021 season beginning on Monday at 8:30 a.m. at Fredonia Village Hall.
Applications will only be accepted from Fredonia or Pomfret residents during this week. Residents from neighboring communities will be able to submit rental applications beginning on Monday, April 26. Russell Joy Park has three pavilions available for public rental from May 1 to Oct. 31.
At this time, payment can only be made by cash or check, the village said.

Upgrades needed at the water treatment plant and confusion regarding its funding were discussed during a meeting this week of the Fredonia Village Board.
Mike Manning, an engineer from Ramboll, attended Monday’s meeting to go through what exactly a $307,000 change order for the water treatment plant is being proposed in a tabled resolution.
“We need some very concrete things as to what it is we’re doing for additional engineering,” board member EvaDawn Bashaw said. “Forty-thousand to protect those two pipes and another $100,000 to protect those two pipes when the materials were already covered. And then there’s the contingency of $70,000, which is ‘Just in case,’ and we haven’t even yet talked about the $31,000 that someone’s wanting to charge us for a delay in the project.”

Scott Johnston has been appointed to one of the two vacant seats on the Fredonia Village Board.
“I’d like to make a motion that we hold a vote on the prospective people we have for the two vacant seats on the board of trustees,” Trustee James Lynden said Monday as he opened discussion for the filling of the positions. “There are four people that have expressed interest, we had one vote at a previous meeting that did not pass. There’s three other people who have expressed interest, they all have qualifications, some more than others.”
