Over 200 residents inoculated during mobile vaccination drive in Guiguinto, Bulacan

(Freddie Velez / MANILA BULLETIN) The local government said 206 residents received their first dose, while 11 persons got their second dose during the one-day COVID-19 mobile vaccination drive in the place that started at 10:00 a.m. Governor Daniel R. Fernando and Vice Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado thanked the Department of Health representatives headed by Shiela Geronimo as well as the Guiguinto municipal health officers for their full support. Medical frontliners, nurses, and vaccinators headed by Dra. Hjordis Marushka Celis administered both the first and second doses of the Sinovac vaccine. Fernando also thanked village chief Apple Robles, barangay councilors, and watchmen who assisted the individuals who received their jabs, and maintained orderliness at the venue.

Bulacan province starts COVID-19 vaccine rollout for frontline health workers

(Bulacan Provincial Health Office / MANILA BULLETIN) Gov. Daniel Fernando led the roll out at the Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center, two days after the province received its allocation of CoronaVac vaccines from the Department of Health-Central Luzon Center for Health Development. Bulacan Medical Center (BMC) chief Hjordis Marushka Celis was the first to get the jab in the province. She was followed by BMC Hospital Training Officer Jose Emiliano Gatchalian and BMC Nurse Supervisor Alma Villena. Other health workers from BMC and the province’s district hospitals are also set to be inoculated in the coming days. Amid the initial hesitation of some health workers in getting the Chinese vaccine, Fernando expressed confidence that “the national government would not neglect us” in terms of the safety of the vaccine.

Bulacan Republicans hold tryout

Fernando launched on Monday, March 1, the tryouts for aspiring players of the Bulacan Republicans basketball team which will see action in the fourth season of the National Basketball League. Fernando said that while his plan for the Bulacan Sports Academy is hampered due to the coronavirus pandemic, his vision for the Bulakenyo athletes is still on. He never hesitated to take the opportunity when the NBL sent its invitation  “I wanted the Bulakenyo basketball players to have an advance learning and technology, strengthened and develop their discipline, sportsmanship, and humilit,” said Fernando.

PhilMech distributes more than P200-M worth of farm machinery, equipment in Bulacan

Published February 2, 2021, 2:07 PM CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan The Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PhilMech) distributed farm machinery and equipment worth P202,708,000 to 91 farmers’ cooperatives and associations in Bulacan as part of its Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Program (RCEP). The P202,708,000 million worth of farm machinery distributed to Bulacan farmers by the Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization.  (Freddie Velez / MANILA BULLETIN) The distribution was held at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium on Tuesday. PhilMech gave out 70 four-wheel-drive tractors, 84 hand tractors, two precision seeders, 12 transplanters, 15 rice reapers, 28 combine harvesters, four floating tillers, three transplanter riding types, and post-harvest facilities such as one multi-pass rice mill and one recirculating dryer.
