(WBTV) - The United House of Prayer for All People is co-hosting a community vaccination clinic with Mecklenburg County Public Health this weekend. The event, which is by appointment only, will take place Saturday, Feb. 20, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the United House of Prayer location at 2321 Beatties Ford Road. The community clinic is open to Groups 1 and 2, which includes healthcare workers and those 65 years in age and older. The vaccination event will be held on Feb. 20th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 2321 Beatties Ford Road in Charlotte. The community clinic is open to Groups 1 and 2 (healthcare workers and individuals 65 and older) by appointment only. Individuals can register here or by calling the COVID-19 hotline at 980-314-9400. “Community-based clinics like this one are essential to making sure we equitably distribute COVID-19 vaccines here in Mecklenburg County. We’re excited to partner with the United House of Prayer for All People to offer 500 vaccines to healthcare workers and seniors in the Beatties Ford Road corridor,” said Public Health Director Gibbie Harris.

During a study session focused on the township s 2021 Road Improvement Program, the board of trustees approved a plan to spend approximately $6.9 million on the following projects: Rehabilitation and repair work on Canton Center Road from Cherry Hill to Ford Road (estimated cost: $1.8 million); Repairs on Sheldon Road, from Cherry Hill to Ford Road (estimated cost: $1.1 million);  Repairs on Haggerty Road, from Michigan Avenue to Van Born (estimated cost: $1.25 million);

Call for improved safety at County Derry walkway A local councillor has highlighted the increased use of the new walkway. Reporter: );   ); A local councillor has called for the Department for Infrastructure (DfI) to install extra safety measures at a newly-developed County Derry walkway. Mid Ulster District councillor Sean McPeake made the request as local residents took to the new walkway at Greenlough in their numbers following its development. “I have been in contact with DFI officials to see if they would examine the extension of the current footpath from Ford Road to Clady Angling Club,” he said. “I have been asked by many of the local users to see if further improvements could be made on this ‘missing link’ of footway on the Mayogall Road.
