The Silverburn Park project in Leven will feature on BBC Scotland’s farming and countryside show Landward, with presenter JJ Chalmers due to film there next week. The Invictus Games medallist and former Strictly Come Dancing competitor will interview staff and volunteers about their ambitions for the 27-acre parkland.

Sign Up Around 300 lanterns will still light up a Fife park on the gloomiest day of the year, despite coronavirus restrictions. Schools, community groups and families will no longer be allowed to gather at the Leven “lantern journey” this weekend but will instead be able to view the event online. Locals made the flax and paper lanterns on show at Silverburn Park using kits designed by artist Hannah Ayre.

Sign Up They can choose from one of two designs – star or pyramid – devised by participatory artist Hannah Ayre. © Supplied by Silverburn Park The lanterns. They will be handed out on a first come first served basis between 11am and 3pm on Saturday and Sunday. People can make them over the Christmas holidays and return them during the first weekend in January.
