BAAJUR: Jamaat-i-Islami on Monday demanded judicial inquiry into the Raghaghan dam boat drowning incident, which left seven persons dead and eight wounded on Wednesday last.
Addressing a news conference here, JI’s Bajaur district chief Sardar Khan, deputy chief Qari Abdul Majeed, former MNA Sahibzada Haroon Rasheed, MPA Sirajuddin Khan and others pointed out that boating continued in the dam despite a ban by the district administration.
They questioned as to who had allowed boating in the dam.
They said it was the responsibility of the district administration to take serious notice of the unlawful practice.
The JI leaders said such a tragic incident could have been prevented had the administration strictly enforced the ban on boating.

Accepting the intra-court appeal of the government and National Bank of Pakistan on Thursday, a division bench of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) suspended a single-member bench decision that set aside appointment notifications of National Bank of Pakistan President Arif Usmani and NBP board of directors Chairman Muhammad Zubyr Soomro. A single-member bench of the IHC comprising Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani had declared both the appointment notifications illegal on June 28. Federal finance ministry and National Bank of Pakistan challenged the verdict while filing Intra Court Appeal against the decision claiming that no irregularity had been committed while issuing the notifications for filling the slots. IHC orders removal of NBP president, BoD chairman

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday has ordered the immediate removal of National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) President/ Chief Executive Officer Arif Usmani and Chairman Board of Directors (BoD) Zubyr Soomro from their posts. Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani on Tuesday announced the verdict, reserved on June 2, about a petition filed against the appointment of the NBP
president. The IHC heard the petition filed by citizens Syed Jahangir, Javed Iqbal, Fazal Raheem and Latif Qureshi. The petitioners challenged the notification dated 12 January, 2019 regarding the appointment of Usmani as NBP president, terming the appointment not in accordance with the requirements of transparency.
