Lewis Fund Seeks Ridgefield Applicants and Extends Deadline to December 31 Written by submitted
Once again, the Lewis Fund is seeking applicants. The Lewis Fund awards grants to non-profit organizations for activities “which are conducted in whole or in part for the benefit or use of residents of Ridgefield and its vicinity.”
Started under the term of the will of Wadsworth R. Lewis, the son of a prominent Ridgefield family, who died in 1942, the Lewis Fund has awarded grants totaling in excess of $3,950,000.
Distribution of Lewis Fund grants began in 1950 after the death of Mary Russell Lewis, the mother of Wadsworth Lewis. Last year, the Lewis Fund awarded grants totaling over $130,000 to 50 organizations. The Ridgefield Boys & Girls Club, Visiting Nurse Association of Ridgefield, Ridgefield Library, Founders Hall and Meals on Wheels were some of the local organizations that received awards from the Lewis Fund.

NORWALK, Conn. Nearly 1,500 people have signed
a petitionurging the City and Norwalk Redevelopment Agency to settle the lawsuits swirling around Wall Street Place, a.k.a. “POKO.”
Court-assisted mediation would be non-binding, “so there is nothing to lose by trying,” the Wall Street Neighborhood Association states in its petition. “Who WINS if there is an agreement? Downtown Norwalk!”
Real estate broker Jason Milligan has been publicly pressing the City and Norwalk Redevelopment Agency to enter court-assisted mediation in the “main” lawsuit, the one stemming from Milligan’s purchase of POKO properties. Norwalk Corporation Counsel Mario Coppola said recently that the public parties will not enter mediation without a written offer from Milligan, and Milligan is refusing to provide one.

The Founders Hall-iday Light Fight, a new holiday decorating contest, starts tomorrow, Thursday, December 10. Thirty-two competitors have decorated their homes or business to raise money for Founders Hall programs and help seniors stay connected during the dark days of the pandemic.
Like many other things in 2020, the pandemic forced Founders Hall to cancel all in-person fundraisers. So this is the only Founders Hall fundraising event of the year. It is socially-distant, and you can participate from the warmth of your car or your home. Let s not let the pandemic take everything away!
This link is the list of participating addresses. Online voting will open on December 10 at 6:00 pm. Print it out and put it in your car; it has spaces where you can jot down your thoughts and impressions of each light display. Or, open it on your phone.
