Teen wounded in DeKalb County apartment shooting
DeKalb police are searching for the shooter at the incident at the Fairington Village Apartments.
STONECREST, Ga. - Stunned residents gathered near the scene of a DeKalb County apartment complex that left a 19-year-old male wounded. DeKalb County detectives worked into the evening on Wednesday collecting evidence.
The teenage victim’s vehicle crashed into a tree in a wooded area at the Fairington Village Apartments on Fairington Village Road near the city of Stonecrest on Wednesday afternoon.
Early in the investigation, police provided few details in the case.

A Georgia man is being hailed as a hero after breaking the fall of at least six people who were jumping from the top floor of a burning apartment complex, catching them with his bare arms. Among those he rescued were a newborn baby and a pregnant woman.
William Cox had just dropped off his son when he noticed smoke billowing out of Fairington Village Apartments in Stonecrest. He realized the building was on fire but didn’t see anyone fleeing the scene.
“I walked down and I don’t see anyone running out of the building,” he told KHOU11 on Dec. 12. “So, I’m screaming, ‘Please, the building is on fire. If you’re in there, get out.’”

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. Terry Nelson held a can of energy drink in one hand and a steering wheel in the other as he made the seven-hour drive from Cincinnati to Atlanta.
Eight of his family members, including his mom, two sisters, four nephews, and niece were severely injured in an apartment fire in Dekalb County on Friday.
DeKalb County fire crews feverishly worked to extinguish an apartment fire on the 2300 block of Fairington Village Drive Friday afternoon.
Seven people escaped the blaze by jumping from the building. DeKalb Fire PIO says 18 people have sustained injuries, with 17 being transported to a hospital.Â
