The Fiji Revenue and Customs Service says that FRCS Director and Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee, Mahmood Khan, has not been appointed as Advisor to the Acting CEO on a $120,000 contract however they say Khan will provide an operational perspective and guidance and high-level advice on key strategic matters and assist the Acting CEO in implementing the decisions and strategic direction of the Board.

The University of the South Pacific Council has appointed a subcommittee to look at issues surrounding USP Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Pal Ahluwalia’s contract and the council will meet again on the 16th of this month.
The Council has made a statement saying that it was not consulted over Professor Ahluwalia’s deportation, it has not made a decision to dismiss him and expressed disappointment that it was not advised, as Professor Ahluwalia’s employer, of the decision to deport him.

The acting CEO of the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service (FRCS), Fane Vave, has resigned. She announced to staff members yesterday that December 31, 2020 would be her last day at work.
She said in a circular she was supposed to leave FRCS on December 1, 2020 but stayed on at the request of the FRCS Board.
“I have always done my best to be transparent and accountable in my tenure with FRCS and, more recently, as your acting CEO for the past 9 months,” Ms Vave wrote.
“I understand that this may come as a surprise for some officers but be rest assured that my decision to resign was made after long and careful consideration and reflection.”
