Pathways to Success seeking volunteer tutors

March 11, 2021 Pathways to Success, a nonprofit organization that supports underserved students at Cape Henlopen, Milford, Seaford and Sussex Technical high schools, is in need of volunteer tutors. The COVID-19 pandemic has been extremely challenging, but in particular for the students. Tutors who have the skills and knowledge as retired teachers and others who feel comfortable tutoring at the high school level are encouraged to consider this opportunity.  Most of the tutoring opportunities are held virtually, either with Zoom or other applications. Fay Blake, Pathways to Success founder and executive director, said: “It takes a village to help a child, and we are asking the community to help these students succeed.”

Pathways to Success seeks Do More 24 donations March 4-5

February 24, 2021 The statewide Do More 24 Delaware fundraising event sponsored by United Way of Delaware and Spur Impact is being held from 6 p.m, Thursday, March 4, to 6 p.m., Friday, March 5. Pathways to Success is among the nonprofits participating this year. It serves students attending Cape Henlopen, Milford, Seaford and Sussex Technical high schools who are at risk for not graduating. The goal is to raise money for seniors who are going on to college for dorm baskets with the necessities that will help them succeed there. Many of the students are their families’ first generation to go to college, and are considered underserved and low income. The transition from high school to college is a challenge for all youth, but especially these. By having the tools they need for college, they will feel more confident in their new environment and ability to succeed. Items for the dorm baskets will depend on each student’s needs and can include quilts, pillows, desk lamps
