‘No chance of winning’ - Dumont doesn’t want UFC title shot against Amanda Nunes

Featherweight contender Norma Dumont does not feel ready to take on champion Amanda Nunes, despite having defeated a former title challenger in her last outing. Although a split decision win over Felicia Spencer at UFC Vegas 27 does feel nice, the Brazilian knows she still has to acquire more experience in the Octagon before she can face the ‘Lioness’.
In an interview with Ag Fight, Dumont pointed how even Spencer herself was not ready to challenge for Nunes’ belt when she did, a mistake Norma does not intend to imitate. No matter how many matches it may take, the rising contender will not accept a crack at the belt until she feels ready for it.
All that’s left now that
UFC Vegas 27 has concluded is to assess the damage. Unlike the relatively injury free Fight Night in Vegas last week, this time around seven fighters face potential six month medical suspensions.
Among those included main event winner Rob Font who picked up a unanimous decision win against former champion Cody Garbrandt. Font requires doctor’s clearance for injuries to his right tibia and fibula, ankle, and foot or he will be unable to compete until November 19th. If cleared for the injuries, Font can return to the cage on June 22nd.
Justin Tafa (left hand), Chris Barnett (right knee), Felicia Spencer (right knee), Ricardo Ramos (ankle and wrist), Shayilan Nuerdanbieke (bilateral lamina papyracea fractures), and Bruno Silva (right hand) also face six months away from the cage.
