Temporary traffic restrictions in York in coming weeks

THERE are set to be a number of traffic restrictions in place around York over the coming weeks. Resurfacing works will be carried out in Wetherby Road from 7.30pm on Monday (March 8) until 12am on Tuesday (March 9). Resurfacing works will also be carried out in Huntington Road from 7.30pm on Monday until 5am on Friday March 19. There will be continued restrictions in Fulford Road for cyclepath work until March 21. Water connection works will be carried out in St Saviourgate on March 15. Traffic signal improvement work will be carried out in Clifton Moorgate and Hurricane Way from Monday March 22 until Friday May 7.

Historic York club shuts and site is sold in merger deal

The former Bootham and Monk Ward Conservative Club A YORK club dating back more than a century has closed for good and the site has been sold after members decided to merge it with another club. The Bootham and Monk Ward Conservative Club in Clarence Street is set to be demolished to make way for a residential development, with the proceeds being used to invest in a major refurbishment of the Heworth Conservative Club. The club in East Parade, Heworth, will be renamed the Heworth and Bootham Conservative Club following the merger. Club president Roy Walker said details of the revamp were being finalised but would include moving the bar to create a larger seating area for the increased membership and new additional toilets upstairs, with disabled toilets provided downstairs.

3 arrested after death of York boy

Josh Reeson THREE teenagers have been arrested in connection with the death of a York boy. North Yorkshire Police say officers investigating the tragic death of 15-year-old Josh Reeson have arrested three more people in connection with the incident. An 18-year-old man and two teenage boys, aged 16 and 17, were arrested on suspicion of Conspiracy to supply Class A drugs. The 17-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs. All three have been released on conditional bail. Josh was taken to York hospital by ambulance in the early hours of Sunday, September 27 2020, where he died later that day after having taken illegal drugs.
