Launching major airfield works at RAAF Base Gingin

Department of Defence WA’s RAAF Base Gingin will receive $7.7 million for maintenance works to its airfield, supporting Australian Defence Force (ADF) capability while maximising opportunities for local businesses. Fulton Hogan Industries Pty Ltd has been awarded the contract to undertake aircraft pavement and aeronautical ground lighting works at the military airfield. The construction workforce is predicted to peak at about 80 personnel per day, creating a range of opportunities for local businesses. Minister for Defence Industry Melissa Price said this was the third works package to be delivered under the $149 million National Airfields Capital Works Project, which was ensuring the ADF can continue to meet its operational requirements.

Sections of 16 local roads across the Shire will be resealed to improve safety and access for road users as part of Council’s annual Road Resealing Program The contract for the works was awarded to Fulton Hogan Industries Pty Ltd for the total sum of $930,136.15 (excluding GST), following a tender process in 2020. The annual program works to improve road surface conditions by spraying bitumen onto a road pavement and then rolling in a layer of uniformly sized stones to create a new surface.

Road reconstruction tender awarded

Date Time Road reconstruction tender awarded Central Goldfields Shire Council has awarded the Gillies Street and Rogers Street Road Reconstruction tender to local contractor Doran Earthmoving Pty Ltd. The contract was awarded at a Meeting of Council this week (27/01). Included as a priority project in the 2020/2021 capital works program, the project will see the reconstruction of Gillies Street, Maryborough (between Fuller Street and Majorca Road) and Rogers Street (between Gillies Street and Railway Street). The works are anticipated to commence in late February, at an expected cost of approximately $640,000. Also at the January Meeting, Council’s 2020-21 bituminous spray sealing contract was awarded to Boral Resources Pty Ltd. The program, with a 2020-21 budget allocation of $614,000, will be delivered in February and March.
