PALATINE BRIDGE
The Village of Palatine Bridge agreed to pay $32,500 for a strip of property adjacent to the village municipal building which may be used for DPW storage, additional parking at the village hall, or a green area. The village board is mulling over its choices.
The board signed a contract with the former private owner and submitted a $1,000 deposit.
“I would expect us to close on it in August,” said Mayor James post.
The village board has discussed the potential purchase for months, and Post noted that the small strip of land could easily tie into the existing property on either side the village municipal space and a DOT-owned green space which is maintained by the village.

JOHNSTOWN – The Common Council Wednesday night voted unanimously to authorize City Treasurer Mike Gifford to go to the municipal bond market to obtain up to $12.2 million for capital projects the largest bond procurement in the history of the city.
The borrowing was reduced from what has been called a $13.7 million “wish list” from the city’s department heads presented to the council on July 19.
The lion’s share of the bonding is part of approximately $7.2 million worth of capital projects requested by the city’s independently-elected Water Board, and will be repaid by the city’s water customers and not through property taxes.

During Tuesday night’s Common Council meeting, City Commissioner of Finance Tammie Weiterschan gave the council an update on the status of the savings from the LED project. She told the council the National Grid bills sent to the city for the streetlamp electricity had been going to an unmonitored email account for the last three months, but after that problem was resolved, she got her first look at the new bills reflecting the installation of the LED lights. She was pleased to see the savings.
