The Fiji Times » Biman: Public must remain vigilant

Rakesh Kumar Professor Biman Prasad. Picture: FILE National Federation Party leader Professor Biman Prasad says the public must remain vigilant despite assurances by Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama that the draft Police Bill would not reach Parliament in its current form. He urged Fijians to continue showing widespread opposition against the draft Police Bill and all other regressive and draconian proposed Bills such as those on electoral reform and Political Parties (Registration, Conduct, Funding and Disclosures) (Amendment) Bills. He said the PM was fearful of the political backlash his FijiFirst party would receive at the next general election. Prof Prasad said Mr Bainimarama must come clean and tell the people of Fiji why his Government introduced the draconian draft Police Bill in the first place.
