VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Fargo Shanley pulled away from Valley City with a 34-8 game ending run to pick up a 67-40 win over the Hi-Liners in girls basketball Tuesday night at the Hi-Liner Activity Center.
The first half was a back and forth half that saw no ties but 10 lead changes. Those lead changes were started by Tesa Olson giving the Hi-Liners a 7-6 lead with a three-pointer with 12:59 to go in the first half. The Hi-Liners biggest lead came at 20-16 on Olson’s bucket inside with 7:19 to go in the half.
The last lead change came when Shanley took the lead for good on Hannah Hoedl’s three-pointer with 6:07 to go in the half to give the Deacons a 21-20 lead. That was part of a 16-4 run by the Deacons to give them a 32-24 lead. Dylann Diegel cut the lead to 32-27 with a three-pointer with 19 seconds to go in the half.

MOORHEAD, Minn. (MSUM Athletics) Minnesota State University Moorhead head women’s swimming and diving coach Charlie King has announced the signing of 10 recruits for 2021-22.
“We are very excited to welcome our new incoming class,” King said. “They bring a lot of depth and diversity from all over. We truly enjoyed getting to know and connecting with each of the incoming first years and feel they will fit in great. Something that stands out with this class is their overall desire for academic success and to compete at the highest level.”

FARGO Fargo Shanley ended West Fargo’s season almost exactly 10 months ago. The Deacons pulled off a 67-65 comeback win over the Packers in an East Region boys basketball state play-in game this past March, costing the Packers a Class A state tournament bid.
The Packers used the narrow loss as fuel when the teams met Thursday at Shanley. That score was written on the board right before West Fargo walked onto the court.
VALLY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Fargo Shanley used a 15-0 run in the first half to take a 12 point lead and held that lead the rest of the game in a 68-52 win over Valley City in boys basketball Tuesday night at the Hi-Liner Activity Center.
Valley City took its only lead at 5-4 on a bucket inside by Calahan Burchill then extended the lead to 7-4 on a basket underneath by Drew Zaun with 15:33 to go in the first half. That would be the last lead the Hi-Liners would have. The Deacons would hold the Hi-Liners scoreless for the next 6:40 and go on a 15-0 run to open up a 19-7 lead. The two teams would be dead even the rest of the half 22-22 for a 41-29 lead at the half.
VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Valley City used a 15-4 run to end the first half and a 15-3 run to start the second half on the way to a 66-45 win over Fargo Oak Grove Monday night at the Hi-Liner Activity Center.
After McKenna McIilone hit a three-pointer with 8:45 to go in the half, the Hi-Liners would score the next 15 points to take a 34-20 lead. After trading off baskets, the Hi-Liners led 36-24 at the break.
Valley City cranked up the defense to start the second half. Oak Grove did not score until the 13:21 mark of the second half on Mya Buffalo’s bucket. All total, Valley City started the second half on a 15-3run to take a 51-27 lead. The game was even the rest of the way as the Hi-Liners picked up the win.
