Drive a Forester, Impreza, or Crosstrek? This is for you.
Subaru has always been a brand favored for reliability, but every company makes mistakes at some point. In 2018, the company recalled a quarter of a million vehicles. The following year, an even bigger recall occurred, with this one affecting a whopping 2.3 million vehicles. Sadly, now there are another two recalls out, pertaining to 2017-2109 models of the Impreza, 2018-2019 models of the Crosstrek, and 2017 models of the Forester. In total, the two recalls affecting these three vehicles involve almost a million vehicles, but fortunately, no accidents or injuries have been reported due to these issues, says Subaru.
The changes are very minor.
If you know anything about the average Subaru Forester owner, you ll likely know that these people don t like change - not when it comes to their beloved crossover wagon. Over the years, its design has evolved slightly, but there s nothing truly spectacular about each new version that comes out. One way to fix this would be an STI version, but alas, the only thing that really gets us excited about the new Forester is its turbo engine. So will the 2022 version change things, and completely revolutionize the Forester s styling? Based on some camouflaged images that design artist Nikita Chuiko has worked on, we don t think so.
A whole new era is about to begin.
Subaru remains one of the few mainstream automakers lacking an all-electric vehicle in its lineup. This will soon change. The Japanese brand has just officially announced plans to launch its first-ever battery-electric in Europe in the very near future. An exact date was not provided, nor anything about its US market prospects.
As expected, this so far unnamed EV, which will be similar in size to the Subaru Forester, will share a platform with the recently announced upcoming Toyota and Lexus. This platform is Toyota s e-TNGA modular architecture specifically for EVs that can accommodate different sized vehicles and batteries. It can even be used for front, rear, or all-wheel-drive setups.
