The meetings discussed ways to enhance cooperation, exchange of expertise and experience in health areas, and emphasise the UAE s keenness to play a pivotal role in supporting the international efforts to counter COVID-19, provide safe and effective supplies, treatment, and vaccines, ensure equitable access to them, accelerate the recovery process and support the objectives of sustainable healthcare development.

AbdulRahman Al Owais AbdulRahman Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention, discussed the UAE’s use of vaccines and testing, and its arrangements to ensure the safe supply of personal protective equipment and medication, to counter the pandemic and accelerate the recovery process. The minister also affirmed the UAE’s commitment towards strengthening international health partnerships, and towards employing innovative treatments. Mutual cooperation Among the first to meet with Al Owais was Jaan Reinhold, Estonian Ambassador to the UAE. The two sides discussed ways of fostering mutual cooperation in managing health data, as part of the World Health Organisation’s project and other global partners, to build a global and reliable vaccine management solution.

Israel and UAE ink health-care agreement

Israel and the United Arab Emirates have agreed to cooperate in the field of health care, the Health Ministry announced on Wednesday. The agreement, an initiative of Israel’s ministries of health and foreign affairs, will see Jerusalem and Abu Dhabi join forces on several fronts, including in the fight against pandemics, as well as the cybersecurity and data protection fields. The agreement will also see the enactment of large-scale joint economic and health-related projects. Israeli officials in attendance at the signing of the accord included Health Ministry International Relations Division director Asher Shalmon, Israeli Ambassador to the UAE Eitan Na’eh and Israel’s special envoy to the Arab Gulf states Zvi Heifetz. On the Emirati side, UAE Health Authority chief Yusuf Muhammad Elsarkel attended the event.
