Following on from the recent successes of Mallow golfer James Sugrue, Banteer man Paul Buckley has become the latest north Cork man to make his mark on the international golfing scene.
This after Buckley became the latest Irishman to triumph in the UAE, with a one-stroke victory in the Omega Emirates Men s Amateur Open at the Emirates Golf Club - the same venue at which Rory McIlroy won his first professional title back in 2009.
Having worked with renowned putting coach James Janowski prior to the tour, Buckley put the experience to good use, with just 28 putts in his opening three-under par round of 69, before finishing out the tournament with a closing 73 and a final total of -2.
