An appeal court in Algeria on Thursday sentenced the alleged daughter of ousted President Abdelaziz Bouteflika to 12 years in prison after she was convicted in corruption cases.
The Appeal Court of Tipaza fined Zoulikha Nachinache, known as Maya, six million Algerian dinars, and ruled to confiscate all of her real estate.
The court also issued a ruling against a number of Bouteflika s regime officials who have been involved in the same case, including Abdelghani Zaalane, former Minister of Transport and the last director of Bouteflika s presidential campaign, who was sentenced to eight years in prison and fined one million Algerian dinars.

An appeals court in Algeria on Thursday sentenced the alleged daughter of ousted President Abdelaziz Bouteflika to 12 years in prison after she was convicted in corruption cases.
The Appeals Court of Tipaza fined Zoulikha Nachinache, known as Maya, 6 million dinars, and ruled to confiscate all of her real estate assets.
The court also issued a ruling against a number of officials from Bouteflika’s former regime who have been involved in the same case. They include Abdelghani Zaalane, former minister of transport and the last director of Bouteflika s presidential campaign, who was sentenced to eight years in prison, former minister of labor, employment, and social security Mohamed El-Ghazi and Bouteflika’s national security director-general Abdelghani Hamel, who were both sentenced to ten years

A prominent Algerian businesswoman, allegedly an illegitimate child of ousted president Abdelaziz Bouteflika, was jailed for 12 years on corruption charges on Thursday, after a court rejected her appeal.
The court also upheld a six million dinar fine ($47,000) imposed by a lower court in October and ordered the confiscation of her properties, the official APS news agency reported.
Zoulikha Nachinache, widely known as Madame Maya, was found guilty of money laundering, influence peddling, squandering public funds and illicit transfer of foreign currency abroad.
The businesswoman argued in court that she was close to Bouteflika through her father who had been a friend of the president since before Bouteflika took office in 1999.
