+ March 13, 2021 THE Mandaue City government plans to reactivate its “mobile market” during this year’s Holy Week which starts on Palm Sunday, March 28, 2021, to Easter Sunday, April 4.
Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes said he wants the city’s mobile market deployed as a way to prevent mass gatherings at the city’s public market during the Holy Week.
Cortes said he is avoiding what happened last year when a mass gathering occurred at the Mandaue City Public Market just to buy ingredients for “binignit” or the traditional sweet stew often served during the Lenten season.
A similar situation also occurred at the Carbon Public Market in Cebu City last year.

+ February 06, 2021 A BICYCLE race, which was supposed to be held on Zuellig Ave. Saturday morning, Feb. 6, 2021, was canceled due to the lack of permit.
John Eddu Ibañez, Mayor Jonas Cortes’ executive secretary, told SunStar Cebu he found out about the activity on Facebook.
According to the post, the race would take place behind the Cebu Doctor’s University at 4:30 a.m.
Ibañez showed up at the event and asked participants if they had a permit to use a one-kilometer stretch of Zuellig Ave. for the race.
They had none.
Ibañez said conducting a race without coordinating with the local government unit could endanger the lives of participants and the public, considering the road is a public road.
