Proposals to reduce staff to child ratios in early years settings are to be debated in Parliament next month (14 November), following a petition against the move which has attracted more than 100,000 signatures.

Early years settings are overwhelmingly against Government plans to change ratios, with just 2 per cent of the opinion that the rule change would enable them to lower fees for parents, according to a survey by the Early Years Alliance.
